Factions

(left to right) Jimmy Uso, Roman Reigns, Sami Zayn, Solo Sakoa, Jey Uso

While I was going to do this post on The Bloodline, I realized how many factions were involved in WWE. Yes, The Bloodline has been a lot of WWE recently, but as my dad said… they are slowly losing traction and becoming less of the ‘main drama’ on the show. Factions are groups of wrestlers in their own ‘cliques,’ and there are many of these factions that can be recalled throughout the years.

The Bloodline is run by Roman Reigns as the ‘Tribal Chief’ because of his Samoan background–the numerous ethnicities of WWE are what I want my next post to be about. Jey Uso joined Roman next as the ‘Right Hand Man’ with his twin brother Jimmy. Paul Heyman became Reign’s ‘special counsel’ or ‘wise man.’ Solo Sikoa, the Uso’s younger brother, joined the Bloodline later. Recently, Sami Zayn made it his goal to ruin the Bloodline. He joined as a fake member, gaining their trust before beginning to crumble the tribe from within. Now, Jimmy and Jey are fighting. Reigns does not know who to trust. The story is beginning to die down, but going into their history is very interesting.

Other recent factions include Damage Ctrl, which includes Bayley, Iyo Skye, and Dakota Kai. Judgement Day was started by Edge, Damien Priest, and Rhea Ripley, but soon, Edge was kicked out for Finn Balor. The three became four when Dominik Mysterio joined, sealing the group off from most of the other wrestlers. At the moment, all four hold a title. The LWO (Latino World Order) also is big right now with Rey Mysterio as the ‘leader.’ They had issues with Judgement Day because of the father-son issues between Dominik and Rey.

D-Generation X (DX) is one of my favorite factions to look back on. Triple H, Chyna, and Shawn Michaels began this one. Later, New Age Outlaws and X-Pac joined them. They were popular during the Attitude Era when WWE was at its best. The other faction that was a favorite was The Shield. The Shield included Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, and Dean Ambrose. They were a hilarious trio that was very fun to watch…they always put on a show. The NWO (New World Order) was started by Hulk Hogan, Scott Hall, and Kevin Nash; they were seen as almost a street gang with their motive to take over.

Other factions included the Ministry of Darkness, Evolution, the Corporation, Fabulous Freebirds, and Four Horsemen. There are many more, but these are the main ones that are my favorite to look back on!

WWE: Then and Now

Vince McMahon Sr. (left) and Vince McMahon Jr. (right) World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) has such a long history that includes many name changes, but no matter what, the fanbase has stuck by its side. Vince McMahon Jr. is the name most people associate with WWE as he has run the company for over 40 years. WWE was not the large company it is today, for McMahon Jr. shaped the corporation to fit his standards. In 1982, McMahon Jr. bought World Wide Wrestling Federation (WWWF) from his father McMahon Sr. and changed the name to World Wrestling Federation (WWF)... that extra W just wasn’t doing it for him. After purchasing the company, McMahon went into different wrestling territories and bought wrestlers from them; thus, those territories eventually went bankrupt. Vince himself owned the New York territory of entertainment wrestling, but his advancements into other territories included famous faces, such as Stu Hart with Stampede Wrestling covering the Montana area and Memphis Wrestling ...

Representation in WWE

Asian Culture in WWE In WWE, there has always been representation of other cultures. The main ethnic group showcased has to be the Samoans. The Samoans are a part of the Pacific Islander group, and there are a lot of them who have wrestled in WWE history. To start, High Chief Peter Maivia debuted in wrestling in 1962. His daughter married Rocky Johnson, which is how Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is part Samoan. Afa and Sika Anoa’i were brothers with Peter Maivia, and they were the Wild Samoans Tag Team. Roman Reigns’ dad is Sika Anoa’i while Samula is the son of Afa. Other Samoans include Tonga Kid, who is Umaga’s Brother and Yokozuna who is Rikishi's cousin. Rikishi had Jimmy and Jey Uso and Solo Sikoa. The Anoa’i family is very large and confusing, and there are so many more that I have not even listed. Samoan Family Asian representation is a big part of WWE as well. My favorite Asian wrestler is Asuka. She screams and no one knows what she is saying, but you can tell how much wrestl...

My WWE Hall of Fame

WWE Logo All throughout this blog, I have talked about different parts of the wonder that is the WWE. From the pay-per-views to titles to different factions that ran each era, WWE has always been full of life and love. In this post, I am going to talk about the things I love about WWE ever since I was a little girl. My father has been watching WWE since he was a young boy, and he shared his love of the sport with me and my sisters growing up. We have gone to different events (Raw, Smackdown, Wrestlemania!) and met various superstars. I remember going to meet and greets to get autographs! Wrestling has always been in my family, and I don’t remember a life without it nor do I ever want to know of it. The Bella Twins My favorite diva wrestlers have always been the Bella Twins and Mickey James. They were such great wrestlers and performers. They always made me feel like I could do anything. My favorite male wrestlers definitely varied as I got older. I remember growing up I loved Jeff Hard...
